Posting problems
-
I can’t create a new post in a traditional way. I have to utilize the quick post, and that is significantly less convenient for the work I’m doing. I’ve tried clearing my cache and cookies and resetting settings and going incognito. Any help? Suggestions?

@timethief, I am looking into what my IT dept. can do for me to see if they’ve blocked with a firewall; however, should that not be the problem, I do look forward to other possible solutions.

I very sorry to say that if were using the “Add New” on the main page for wordpress.com here http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ that link is only for creating “Asides”. They have no titles, can’t have categories assigned to them and the auto-save does not work on them.
I recommend creating posts on your own dashboard only http://macoffeegrounds.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
Note that DNT (do not track) and Ghostery as well as running IE9 in compatibility mode will not serve you well. The first two and any other browser add-on blockers can prevent you from posting. Using IE9 in compatibility mode makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. I suggest you disable all browser add-ons and use the https:// secure log-in and see if that works for you. http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

Thanks for trying to help. This was only my second time to comment as I hadn’t seen the other reply on the other post. No need to get snooty with the newbies
-
How many times should we watch new bloggers post into multiple threads and create confusion and remain silent? What I posted was not in the least “snooty”. it was polite. If you are overly sensitive to being corrected and directed when your are new to any situation or activity perhaps you need to pacify the child within.

@timethief
In attempting to create post through the dashboard only, I can put in a title, but then in the main body of the post, I can’t even get my cursor to show up. I’ve tried Explorer, Chrome and Firefox, and the same problem exists there. I’m beginning to suspect it’s a firewall issue, but do you have any further suggestions? -

I’m failing to see where all this anger is coming from. I’m going to seek help elsewhere and just move on. Thanks for trying

P.S. I forgot to say I hope you have still contacted your IT people because the problem could be at that end.

Do you notice any improvement if you uncheck the automatic proofread options at Users -> Personal Settings? Or, are they already unchecked?
-
They are already unchecked. My problem seems to have now changed. I spoke with my IT people today, and discovered that the problem no longer existed as it had before as I didn’t have a problem when they came by. Of course as soon as they left the building a different problem appeared. My dashboard has now changed. I apologize for not having a more technical background, but the only way to describe the appearance of my dashboard that it’s in a beta format (?), or its original format (?). I’ve copied and pasted the first few lines below to give an idea. Hopefully someone has a suggestion:

Well, that’s the sidebar, not much to go on there.
Can you please provide us with a screenshot?
