posting specific entries only to assigned pages – possible?

Greetings. I have been trying to do this on virtually all blog domains with no real success but I am certain it must be possible, so:

I would like to have my posts NOT be displayed as a single stream of posts on the homepage. Instead, I would like to have specific entries be displayed only at assigned pages. How do I accomplish that?

Example: right now i have several pages created in my blog and one recent entry. This recent entry is not displayed on any of the pages (including ‘home’). It is only visible in the menu. I would like this entry to be displayed on ‘travel’ page, but not show up on homepage as part of the common stream.

I was told by some WP user that “This is VERY easily accomplished using tags. Your main page may have all topics, but you can have pages that only show posts with a given tag. It’s another way to accomplish the same thing. Hell, set a tag for ‘frontpage’ and if you don’t add it, it won’t even be on your main blog page.
It all ends up being one blog, but the tags allow you to move the posts about very easily. I’ve found it very effective”.

Except, I cannot seem to find a way to do this…. Could you please guide me through?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

p.s. I’m not sure if I’m being clear: I know if I select the page onto which to publish my recent post, for example, then it will show up there. But that will simply select onto which page to publish ALL my posts. Instead, if I make another post with a different tag and category (for example, poetry), I would like it to go to the respective different page.
