Posting to a category
-
I have put some posts on my site, however, they show up on my ‘main’ home page and not under my category tabs.
In my dashboard I select Posts>All Posts, the click on the post I want (Simple Jewelry for example), Click on EDIT under that , ( now my photos and post show up). Now I select the category name I want the post to show up under , from the list of categories on the left ( fashion for example) Then Post it.
My post shows up on my ‘main’ page, but NOT under the Fashion category.. any ideas what i am dong wrong?
thank you

The only category on that post is Talk Tuesday http://meghanmackay.wordpress.com/category/talk-tuesday/

I am trying to figure out how to post my posts to the front page and under the certain menus. for example simple jewelry would go under talk tuesday. How do I do that?
I really appreciate all of your help!! -
Hello Meghan,
Your current menu consists of pages. You can’t add posts to pages. Although pages and posts are similar, they function very different. Posts appear on a single dynamic page that updates in reverse chronological order as you create your posts. Pages are static, meaning the content doesn’t automatically update. More information can be found here:http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/06/30/posts-on-pages/Another option is to assign categories to your posts, then create a custom menu listing them. Here’s how to assign categories to your posts:
Once you have your posts categorized you can create your custom menu by going to Dashboard>Appearance>Menus. Create a menu and save it with a new name. Drag the categories from the category box in the order that you want them placed on your menu (you can also rearrange them by dragging them up or down). Select this as your Primary Menu and save.
