posting to a specific page

Ok, I am so confused my head is spinning. I want to have five separate pages from the home page. I want to be able to post to just certain pages. I have been told I cannot do this, but I find that hard to believe! My blog is about sports. If I want to blog on just ONE CERTAIN subject, which is page related, how do I do that?

If you haven’t already read the following — and the entry it links to — please do and you’ll have a better understanding.

How do I post to a Page?

LOL! I must be stupid…because I still cannot figure out how to set this up so I can do what I have described. I have seen this done on other blogs…but have no idea how to do it myself. Thanks for replying though.

Posts only appear on the blog related pages (main blog page, category and tags pages, archive pages, etc.). Pages that you create sit outside the blog structure and are not automatically updated and you cannot put “posts” on them.

If you create a page, to update it you have to open the page in the editor, and then add to the bottom of whatever is already on that page, and comments added to that page by viewers will not be relative to the different parts you add, but will be at the bottom of the page, and related only to the entire page.

What you are describing would be several “blogs” in one blog, and that is not possible here.

What you can do, is to create categories for the different subjects, and then your readers can click on the subject (category) in the sidebar to get only those posts related to that subject.

If you want, you can create a static front page and then list the different categories on that page and have them as links to the specific categories. Do be aware though that search engines pay less attention to blogs with static front pages, because with a standard blog, there is constant change on the front page since there are posts being added all the time, and the search engines see that and it will result in higher page rank which means more viewers.
