posting to specific menus

  So I’m super confused about what a menu item, page, and category are. Basically, I have my site, and want the menu items to be ‘Homepage’, ‘Travels’, ‘Australia’ and ‘Profiles’. Within travel I would like there to be a dropdown to a list of countries. I just want to make a post right now that will only show up in the ‘Germany’ drop down under ‘Travels’. Please help I’m so lost and going in circles here
