Posting with minimum theme
-
I’m trying to post blogs under one menu. I don’t want to add each post as a subitem under my Blog menu, I’d like to just add each post to the blog so I don’t have a ton of subitems. Help please!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there!
If you want all your blog posts to appear under your Blog tab, you should do this…
- Go to the link below to open your Customizer:
https://juliamorales.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php?return=%2Fwp-admin%2Fnav-menus.php - Click Static Front Page.
- For Front Page, select Welcome! (or whatever static page you want to act as your Home page).
- Then, for Posts Page, select BLOG (which seems to be the page you’ve added to contain your blog posts).
- Then, save your changes.
Now, all you blog posts will appear under the Blog tab. You can remove the submenu item that links to the single blog post. You don’t have to add blog posts individually to your menu. They will appear automatically now.
Incidentally, I see that you’ve created your Contact and Resume items as Posts. I would actually suggest copy/pasting the content from those posts into Pages. Then, add the pages to your menu here:
https://juliamorales.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.phpIf you’re not entirely sure about the difference between Pages and Posts:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

thanks for the quick response. I changed the contact info and resume to Pages. Done.
Set static front page to welcome which isn’t what I had set as my home. It’s a page I created to put the text on the home page I believe. I also set the Posts to Blog and it’s exactly what I used for my home page. So I’m confused.
When I switched them and made the Blog page my static front page, the Blog page I created shows up.
In order for my posts to show up there should I have made blog a page? Also I don’t see the post I wrote this morning, labeled “Here we go”
Thank you!

Oh my home page is like that because I created by using the Featured in widgets. I’d like for this to still be my home page/static front page.

Ok, I removed the Genesis Featured widgit I was using for my home page all together and it worked. The blogs are posting beautifully. But my awesome home page I had all perfect is gone. It’s just a Welcome. IS there a way to get the Genesis Featured widget for my static front page? I wanted to use a different picture than the one that is on the sidebar of the other pages. Thank you!

Hi Julia,
Sorry for some confusion here.
Minimum is pretty different from most themes on WordPress.com in that a lot of its features are built into having a “latests posts” front page instead of a static front page. So to use it’s Featured widget, you’ll want to go back to the Customizer, and adjust the Static Front Page setting back to “Latest Posts.”
Reset up your Homepage how you liked it using Minimum’s special widgets:
https://wordpress.com/themes/minimum/support/
Next, we need to get you back to having a “Blog” tab that displays all your posts in one menu item. Since your homepage uses Latest Posts, we have to kind of play a trick on the theme.
Visit your Categories page here:
https://juliamorales.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=category
Create a new category named “Blog.”
Then visit your ‘All Posts’ page here:
https://juliamorales.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php
Select all your posts, then in the “Bulk Actions” dropdown select “Edit,” then click Apply. Add the “Blog” category to all your posts, then click the blue Update button.
Finally, visit your Menu settings here:
https://juliamorales.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php
Remove your Page named Blog, and instead add the Category Page named “Blog”. Save the menu.
As you continue to write posts, always include the category “Blog” and then all your posts will show up when “Blog” is clicked.
Sorry for the extra steps. Minimum is just a little tougher to get going, but once it’s all set it’s definitely pretty. :)

Great! That worked. The only thing now is my text on my home page is in italics and originally it wasn’t. I like the way the text is on the rest of my page. Is there a way to fix that?
And will I be able to post from my mobile device easily now that I have to make sure it’s under categories?
Thanks! -
Nevermind!! I put the genesis featured page under Featured inside of Welcome and it fixed it. Thanks!

Looking great! :)
And will I be able to post from my mobile device easily now that I have to make sure it’s under categories?
Yes, whether you’re using a mobile browser, or the Android or iPhone app, while creating or editing a post you can add a category to it. You can also make life a little easier by going to your Writing settings:
https://juliamorales.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-writing.php
And next to “Default Post Category” select Blog. (Then save changes.) This way, if you ever forget to add a category, it will add Blog automatically for you!

PS. So glad baseball is back!! Winters are too long.
