Posting your blog link on someone elses blog?
-
I have a quick question, is posting your link on someone elses blog, comments, frowned upon in the “blogging world?” or is it encouraged assuming it is on topic?
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Most of the time you won’t have to. If you’re commenting on another wp.com blog and are signed in and have your url specified in your dashboard, it will be linked to your name as it is here.
If you’re on other blogs that ask for your url, it will generally be linked to your name. Some self hosted blogs (mine, for instance) use Comment Love, which publishes the title of your most recent post (or another, if you choose) and links to it.
I think posting a link looks spammy in almost every circumstance, but especially when other avenues are provided.

I ask because I found a blogger who believes in the Bering Strait theory and would like to leave a comment showing proof that the Bering Strait theory is impossible (at least the whole 13,000 years ago theory). Would it be wrong to direct him to my blog since I have alot of information about it on my blog?

If your name is going to be linked (and you can hover on another commenter’s name to see) I’d simply mention the information’s at your blog. Most bloggers and people who read blogs know the name is linked. That’s just my opinion; I don’t need to be hit over the head with something.
You probably won’t change anyone’s mind, anyway. There are still people who believe President Obama is a muslin [sic] and not a citizen. And then there’s The Flat Earth Society….

I wouldn’t do it the FIRST time I’d commented on someone’s blog. It looks deeply spammy, because that’s exactly what spammers do and they don’t know you yet, and can’t tell you’re not a spammer.
Most blogs allow you to leave a URL which will link to your name: at least, WP and Blogspot blogs do. If this is a blog that does that, and it’s your first time posting there, just say you have a lot of info on it, give some useful, relevant info in the comment, and let it go at that.
If you’re a regular commenter there, you can say “and on THIS POST I discussed the theory of…” etc, etc and put a direct link to one post.
