  Is there any additional place to write posts besides myhome page. I guess I don’t fully understand treh concept of categories

  You have only one page to write posts.
  http://support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

  When you write posts, assign them to categories of your choice. The categories widget will guide your readers to posts in a particular category.
