  how do i get my images to go horizontal across over my blog post as the featured image ?

  The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes

  Every theme has a detailed theme description page and this one is at https://wordpress.com/themes/sela/ That’s where set up instructions for it are found. The live demo site is at https://selademo.wordpress.com/

  The featured image on the front page and on pages works best with images at least 1180 wide.
  Featured Images for posts should be at least 820 wide by 312.

  Only a limited number of themes provide the ability to set featured image headers that differ from one another on each page. See:
