How can I retract a post? I put something/anything in to see how things were organized and I now don’t want this to be my first post. Can I get it back without trashing it? I do want to post it later. authentictextiles.com

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • To unpublish a post, simply go to the Posts > All Posts page here:

    https://authentictextiles.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

By clicking the Quick Edit link under a post, you can change the status back from Published to Draft. When you’re ready to publish it, simply change the status again, and there you go!

If you’d like, you can read more about publishing posts here:

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with. :) Thanks!

Hi Adam, Thanks for your advice. I had tried this and when I did again after your comments I realized the problem is that it says it is published and won’t let me change the status. Seems stuck. Is there something I should have checked/clicked beforehand so that it will let me change the status?

Hmm, I don’t think anything should be preventing you from changing the post status. You trying to change the status of the “We’re Live, Launched, Shipped!” post, correct?

I just toggled the status of that back and forth really quick and it seemed to work for me.

Let me know and we’ll get it sorted out. :) Thanks!

I am flummoxed. There are 2 We’re Live . . . posts, one published and one a draft. I tried going in through Quick Edit and couldn’t toggle either of them. Then tried the other posts and they don’t toggle either. Could it be that my Safari browser is not up to date? I got a message when I logged in that advised a later version. I am on 4.0.4.

That might be it, but if it were I’d be surprised. Try using Chrome or Firefox to do the same thing and see if it works that way.

Otherwise, I’d be curious to see what happens if you try to change a post to a draft via the normal edit screen. Here:

    https://authentictextiles.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=2&action=edit

In the Publish box on the right, click Edit next to where it says “Status: Published”. Change the dropdown box to Draft, click OK, then update the page and see if it works after that.

    Let me know! Thanks!

Hi Adam, It is Safari. I just tried with my lap top which has Safari 5 and now I can toggle and make changes.
I also upgraded my OS since originally posting and maybe all is not in sync on the DT yet. Always somethin’!

Thanks so much for your patience and help.
    Have a great weekend! Candace
