Posts and Layouts

How can I use the ‘posts’ layout on multiple pages rather than just the one set page ?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
By default, your blog is setup with one “posts” page that houses all of your blog posts. However, if you want to setup different pages that house various posts separated by topic, you could do that by using Category Pages as described here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/
Can you give that a try?

Thank you. yes I’ve managed to set up a few pages but is it right that I can’t alter the layout of these pages? And that I can’t create separate ‘posts’ on these pages?
thanks

Hi there,
It looks like you’ve created several normal pages, which can be seen here:
https://lulujoppdotcom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page
That isn’t really the same thing as a category page. Normal pages like the type you have created display whatever content you enter into them through the page editor. Category pages on the other hand are automatically populated whenever you add a post to a certain category.
Instructions on setting up Category pages (which is completely different than setting up regular pages) are laid out here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/
If you setup category pages, as soon as you add a post to a category and publish it, it will automatically be added to the appropriate category page. Does that make sense?
Regarding changing the layout of a normal page (not category page), you have the option of changing to a full-width page (no sidebar) under Template as explained here:
Is that the kind of adjustment you’re looking for?
Also, how can I make my site private whilst in doing all this?
That can be accomplished through the instructions here!

Great! It looks like you have several category pages in your menu now. Please let me know if you need anything else!

Hey.. me again sorry!
I’ve just changed my theme and:
when I click on a page it’s not coming up with the content of that category even though they’re set up as you explained before! It’s only showing the content once I change the ‘category’ drop down.
thanks -
Hi!
It doesn’t look like you’ve selected a menu to appear yet. Currently, your menu is just displaying all of your pages by default. However, you can set your custom menu here:
https://lulujoppdotcom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php?action=locations
I believe you want to set “Main Menu” as the primary menu on your site. That menu has all of your category pages. Could you give that a try?

Hi, thanks.
On a previous theme, as I added posts under a certain category, they’d appear on the category pages but now they’re not. They’re only appearing in a category drop down.. ?! ah -
Hi there,
Currently, the pages in your menu aren’t category pages. Can you follow the instructions here to add the category pages to your menu?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/#step-3-add-the-category-pages-to-your-menu
Let me know if that works!
