Posts appear in bold and italics
-
For whatever reason, some of my posts are appearing, in the shortened form, in all italics and bold. When you click on “read the rest of the entry” they appear correctly. I have looked to make sure that italics and bold tags are closed and can’t find any open. Is this just a wordpress glitch? http://networksboise.wordpress.com/blog/
Thanks!

Thanks but this does not seem to apply. The first of the two posts that I am looking at does have the “more” tag but it is set outside of other tags. The second post, which has the identical bold and italics problem, does not use a “more” tag at all. Unless, I’m really missing something.
Thanks again!

@networksboise, it does apply, and actually applies 3 times.
1. You put the more tag inside of a ordered list. That separates the opening and ending tags for the ordered list, which breaks things.
2. You did not end the italics tag in the last paragraph of #2 before the more tag. That separates the opening and ending tags for the italics tag, which breaks things.
3. You put a opening bold tag right before the more tag was inserted. That separated the opening and ending tags for the bold tag, which breaks things.
Here is the HTML for the #2 paragraph and the more tag in that post.
<li> <em>Tags & Categories: </em> Be sure to use these with every post. I am convinced that they move you way up in search categories. As an example, I have written a number of posts about a certain topic and, as a result, this blog has been the featured blog in WordPress in this specific category for a number of weeks. Scary (smile). I am going to tag this post with that same topic and just see what happens. I am not going to even talk about this topic. This is a test (smile). <em> See the results of this test at the end of this post. <strong> <a class="more-link" href="http://networksboise.wordpress.com/2009/04/07/10-simple-tips-to-increase-visits-to-your-blog/#more-1093"> <span class="readmore">Read the rest of this entry »</span> </a> <br /> </strong> </em>First, go to settings > writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then click “save changes.”
Second, move the more tag to where it is not buried in the ordered list. It has to be outside of the ul and li closing tags, or it has to be placed before the ordered list.
Third, ALWAYS end character formatting (italics, bold, etc.) before inserting the more tag. If you need to begin them again on the paragraph following the more tag.
This blog post covers the more tag placement issues in more detail: http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2008/08/21/avoiding-the-more-tag-woes/ .

Yuda Man! Thanks!! I wasn’t even looking at this specific post as it was the only one that seemed to appear correctly (no bold or italics). Thanks so much for your help!

I’m having a similar issue, I’m completely removed all ‘more’ tags and the bold has gone away but the italics has not? Any ideas.
