Posts appearing as summaries

  I want each post to appear as a summary – although I have actioned the summary button in settings – readings – ‘for each article in a fed show’, I cant figure out how to get the posts to display as a line or two, with the invitation to after them. My news page with posts is at http://arcresolution.co.uk/news-links/, but I want it to show like the posts at http://linendemo.wordpress.com/ – a little picture for each post would be great to.

  Hi Dave (nice name by the way),

  So, I have answers to your two questions. First of all, the summary: this is controlled by the “read more” tag which can be inserted into your content. It’s just a short little tag that says where you want the summary to end. The code you need to include is <!–more–> and there’s more information on it here: More Tag.

  And for your second question, those little pictures are determined by the featured image (look for the box towards the bottom of the right-hand column in your post editor). If a featured image is set, it will display it next to the content, as in the demo that you linked to. And here’s some more elaborate information on featured images: Featured Images.

  Many thanks for this, both your suggestions worked first time after hours searching for a solution, so that was brilliant. And give my regards to the Floridians, its been four long years since I was last on International Dr (although I’m sure there much more to Florida) on holiday and I miss it every cloudy/damp/gloomy British day.

  Yes, I live in the Tampa Bay area, about 1.5 hours from Orlando, so I go over there occasionally. And as it happens, we have more in common than just our namesakes: I am also British! I moved here in 2006, to be with my wife, who is American. Deciding who should move where was a pretty easy decision given the buckets of sunshine over here!
