Forgiveme but this subject of the tags don’t show up in de global tag sistem is ridiculous.
First he was a bug and Mark fix every blog by hand!
Then a new rule, no more then 12 tags, I see olg blogs with hundreds of tags and only one video, with no problems.
Then it would be necessary to wait up to 2 week´s0 before the tags appear for prevent spamming. My friend ” El malo” has a clean blog with posts with more than one month and in still no tags in the global tag sistem!
I agree in taking steps against the spammers, but not this whay.
The one who makes a profit are the spammers themselves, an example: I have a blog that in spite of not appearing in the tags receives a lot of visits from google, half they opt to leave the blog for one of the tags and go where! Directli to the blog of a crazy spammer that it puts more than 50 tags for post!
It was thanking a quick and serious answer about this subject. I Already read vague answers to manny times.

Hi Mark. I’m having the same problem with my blog.

    http://2dadsntwins.wordpress.com/

Yes, I have a lot of (relevant) tags, but I’m not buying into the 12 tag limit, as I went back and read the tag info that still states there is no limit on the number of tags allowed.

When I hear something from someone at wordpress or read it in the support documentation, I’ll change my tag lineup.

My post today initially showed up as being posted 38 years ago, although the posted date on my blog showed today’s date. I’ve gone back, edited, deleted, reposted, and I still am not showing up. Help?

  • Unknown's avatar

There is no limit on the number of tags or categories allowed. Staff have told us in the past (including Mark) that if you go over that you’ll be dropped from the global tag system. I, too, know that there are many blogs in the Top Posts or Top Blogs list that have more, and I’m not staff so I can’t tell you why.

  • Unknown's avatar

If you go over that number of 12, I mean. Need more coffee.

Also, if the date is still showing as 38 years ago, you could indeed be in the global system, but you’d be back at the first page.

Raincoaster – Thanks for your response.

My feeling is that tag limits are all fine and well if they’re stated and implemented as a standard. And I think people (including me) might not use more than that if they knew, but because it states no limit in the guidelines, I didn’t censor my tags. I wouldn’t have known now that this is an issue or that people have a problem with it or may consider it abuse if I hadn’t run into a problem with my blog.

I will be happy to cut back on my tags in the future if it’s an issue, but it would be nice to have my blog fixed so I know it’s okay going forward.

    I released a future-timestamped post today at
    http://thepriceoflove.net

16 hours on, the post still doesn’t show up on the global tag system for any of the categories selected (there are 12). Previous posts, which were conventionally timestamped, do show up.

I remember Lorelle posting about this last year but I thought it had been fixed. It’s a pity if it hasn’t – this was a hard-worked section of writing and I wanted to future-publish a few more posts soon.

The workaround fix is to go back in and open the post and then re-save it – which I’ll do right now, but the point of future publishing is supposed to be letting something appear at a pre-planned time, and not when I get back to my desk at a different time later.

Aside from avoiding future publishing altogether, are there any other ideas on how best to resolve this? MTIA

I went back in and fixed this using the workaround.

It wasn’t enough to change from published to draft, and then re-publish again – I had to change the timestamp to the current time as well, and then hit publish.

My conclusion is that future-timestamped posts won’t appear in the global tag system for now. Which is a pity. The method worked really well, apart from that hitch.

Here’s Lorelle’s tutorial, for anyone who hasn’t come across it before: http://lorelle.wordpress.com/2006/10/01/working-ahead-future-posts-with-wordpress/

    So I figured, why not.

I’ve now complied with all of these things. My tag/category combined totals are now 12. I’ve pulled my post from today on http://2dadsntwins.wordpress.com called “Then and Now” and made it a draft, edited the time stamp so that it will republish immediately and I’m still having the same issue.

As can be seen on the tags ‘gay adoption’ and ‘gay parenting’ (which don’t have too many posts if you scroll through) that my post appears to have been submitted 38 years ago, some years prior to my birth.

My kids think I’m super. But there are some things I’m just not capable of doing, such as posting a blog to an internet site that didn’t exist, long before I was born.

    Any other ideas out there?

That’s a bug several other people have noted today. What’s weird is, it’s happening on Drupal too! Completely independent from WordPress! I’d report it to staff if I were you, although at this point it will have to wait till tomorrow when they reopen.

In the meantime, claim the superpowers. Everyone else’s dad is doing it!

    Hi there,

I posted a separate post on this yesterday, but to no avail, so I’ll try again.

Reading through this thread, it looks like I’ve got the exact same problem as the folks who write this blog:

    http://yesonmeasureb.wordpress.com/

The issue is that my posts don’t appear in tag searches unless I’m logged in.

So even if I do a tag search and find my post listed (when logged in), the moment I hit ‘log out’ the results page will reload and then appear with my posts missing. Everybody else’s posts on this topic will still be listed.

This doesn’t make any sense to me, why is this happening? I’m not doing ‘future posting’ or anything like that.

Mark, could you have a look at it please? You will find my weblog at

    http://zuriz.wordpress.com/

Thanks for any help in advance! I apologize for my shaky English, it isn’t my mother tongue.

    Zuri

    Still very confused…
Our tags appear to be in order, relevant and the blog is a few weeks old – but still not appearing in global tag search.
Is there someone who could tell us what to do to correct this?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Unknown's avatar
