Posts are not displaying

    Hi,

Since yesterday, my blog content does not show in view post, only in edit mode. I get a :) face instead. Older posts show. Any ideas? I tried clearing cache and cokkies and using other browers besides chrome.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Solved: Videopress was deactivated for some reason. everything is fine now.

Excellent! I’m glad to hear everything is working. Hope you have a great week!

Actually, still having trouble after all. The issue is isolated to activating videopress. For some reason, posted video does not display with video press activated. It shows fine when videopress is deactivated. The workaround for now is to activate video press to post a new vid, and then deactivate it to be able to see it on the blog. This never happened in the past. Ideas?

So to clarify, the VideoPress plugin seems to be preventing VideoPress videos from playing when it is activated, however when it is deactivated the VideoPress videos will still play, you just cannot add any additional videos.

    Is that correct?

I’ve been trying to replicate this using my own test WordPress.org blog, but I’ve not been able to.

Could I get some more information from you? Specifically could I get from you the other plugins that you have installed on your site? Not just running, but installed as well. A screenshot of your plugins page would be great, if you could provide that.

    Thanks for your help!

Trying to copy and paste a screenshot here, not working. How do I get you a screenshot?

If you just want to upload it to your media library and then paste the link here I can check it out that way.

Check out the blog now. I activated video press and you will see if you try and view content on the home page it is not visible. http://marksmarketmusings.com/

    Hey Mark,

I can see what you mean on your front of site!

Looking through your list of plugins, I see that you have the Jetpack plugin from WordPress.com too. Would you do me a favor and try updating that to the most recent version? We just released a new feature that includes a VideoPress module built in. See if that module works for you. If so, you should be able to delete the stand-alone VideoPress plugin and just use Jetpack by itself.

Let me know if that works.

I updated both Jetpack and videopress, they were already the latest up to date versions, no joy. I could not delete videopress because my video files are too large for the jetpack upload. That is why I used the videopress in the first place. i will check back on Sat night. will be away from computer till then. Keep the ideas coming, much obliged.

    Hi there,

I’ve been working with this issue and also consulted with one of the developers who works on our Jetpack plugin, and it looks like there shouldn’t be any difference in the size of the videos which you can upload between the original VideoPress plugin and the Jetpack module. How large are the videos which you are trying to upload?

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks for the continued help, but I need the VideoPress to be working as it has always been. I do not wish to change my approach to managing the blog. Perhaps the developers can fix the bug that is causing the issue i am having, or suggest a solution if indeed it is not a software bug and just a configuration issue.

We are making a transition towards consolidating individual plugins (such as the standalone VideoPress plugin) into the single Jetpack plugin with individual modules which can be activated as-needed by each user.

Since the same functionality is now available within Jetpack, the standalone VideoPress plugin (which, as you can see, has its own set of issues) isn’t needed any longer. Our developers are focusing on making sure that the Jetpack plugin, and along with it the VideoPress module, are working at full functionality. If there’s some aspect to that which isn’t up to snuff, we’d love to hear about it!

My uploads are a minimum of 20mb. When I select add media for a new post using jetpack, and I drag a 20MB video, I get a an error because max upload size is 10MB.

Are you speaking about the uploader that is built in to your Media Library, or some different page? I ask because the uploader is limited by settings within your hosting account rather than the Jetpack plugin itself.

You can also always upload your files directly to marksmarketmusings.wordpress.com here:

    https://marksmarketmusings.wordpress.com/wp-admin/media-new.php

Which has a 1 Gb file upload limit.

Interesting and helpful. So I can use https://marksmarketmusings.wordpress.com/wp-admin/media-new.php instead of what I have been using http://marksmarketmusings.com/wp-admin/post-new.php and upload from there. So why would anyone use videopress and why was i using the interface that only allowed 10MB to begin with. Very confusing.

    Thanks for the help.

Well, it does not work. I tried but it looks like I will have to keep activating the video press to upload and deactivating when done. Not sure why I am paying for functionality that used to work and now does not without extra silly steps. Not satisfied.
