posts disappeared!
-
I’ve never had this happen before – the content of my posts from June 8 and June 11 vanished – the titles, categories, and tags were still there, but no content. Luckily I had drafts in my files and I have reconstructed them, but this is upsetting and I wanted to let people know it happened. Do you have any comments for me?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No I don’t. I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

Thank you for adding a modlook tag and for the link – I didn’t know how to get Staff to investigate. I’m subscribed to this thread now. In the meantime, I draft my posts in Word and then Copy/Paste them into my blog. Glad I do that!

Hi @katerauner, sorry that happened! Can you tell me more? Which editor are you using, and which apps? Is there any chance you’re logged into another computer? You might try changing your password just in case.
-
Hi supernovia – I start from my dashboard to create posts – the “new post” menu choice. I use only my laptop, never mobile, never an app, never log on from any other computer. I have used the “new” edit screen to modify old posts – where I click “edit” at the bottom of the post from the blog itself (I prefer the dashboard editor BTW) I haven’t thought of anything I did differently…
-
So to be clear, you are not using wordpress.com/post but the old dashboard in wp-admin, right?
-
Correct – I use the wp-admin dashboard to create posts. I’ve occassioanlly used /post to revise, but these were my two latest posts so I hadn’t done and revisions on either of them as I recall.

Hi @katerauner
This does happen sometimes when people edit an existing post with the new editor, but I’ve not heard of it happening when using the WP-Admin editor.
Should this happen again, edit the post in the WP-Admin editor and click on a date in the Revisions section. You should be able to restore the lost content from there.
As for the issue itself, we’re still trying to track down exactly what’s causing it so we can fix it. If you experience this again, please try writing down exactly which steps you followed and let us know. The more information we can get on this problem, the better the chance that we can fix it.

Thanks for the work-around. There are times when the new /post edit window is convenient to use, so good luck with your debugging.
