Posts don’t appear on home page
-
I’ve created a personal blog site but it’s not ‘live’ yet. It has just a Home Page – on which I’d like my posts to appear, and an About page which is static. There are three posts in total but none appear on the Home Page and I’ve been going ’round and ’round in circles trying to make these posts display on the Home Page. What am I doing wrong? I’m about to give up altogether. Surely it can’t be that difficult. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Hi there,
Are you speaking of https://atravarta.wordpress.com/?
I can see all published posts on that site on the front page – that is how WordPress works by default, showing latest posts on the front/home page, i.e. the page you see when going to the site’s address directly. Any new post you publish will automatically appear at the top of this front page.
I see you also have a page titled “Home” in the site menu, but that links to a static page at https://atravarta.wordpress.com/blog/. On this page you’re using the blog posts block to display your posts.
If you want your posts to be on the front page of the site as it currently is, you don’t need this extra page. A separate blog page on a site is only needed if you want to set a static page as the front page instead:

Dear Kokkieh,
I’ve just found your reply. Thanks so much for clarifying that for me. I’ve removed the blog page now and have the site more or less how I want it. I just have a main page (effectively the blog page), an ABOUT page, and OUTLOOK page (static like the ABOUT page and containing a life philosophy-type declaration).
I would like to take out the “continue reading” from the automatically shortened posts (on the FRONT page) and have the whole posts displayed in their entirety but I’ve been to the “Cusomize” options and clicked on the radio button under the “Content Options” tab that says “Blog Display Choose between a full post or an excerpt for the blog and archive pages.” I’ve chosen “Full Post” (instead of “Post excerpt”)… but the posts on my MAIN page are still showing up as shortened versions with the “continue reading” link.
What am I doing wrong?
Any further help on this would be appreciated?
Thanks. -
Hi, it might have just been cached. I see the full posts on the front page now. Do you need more help?

Hi, thanks for replying.
My front page shows all the posts but the prob I have now is that they are always excerpted and show a link to “Continue reading”. I’d like the whole posts to appear instead of just a shortened version with a link to the whole post on a different page.
Any ideas?

Hi… my main page shows truncated posts with a blue link under each one that says “continue reading” and leads to the whole post being opened up in a new page (on a new tab in Firefox).

Hi… I’ve just put a picture of what my main page looks like, in my “Jordan Peterson” post for you to see what I see.

I don’t see the problem on the site you listed originally: https://atravarta.wordpress.com/
Are you referring to a different site?

OK… Thanks MacManx, Supernovia and Kokkieh.
I’ve realised that it’s nothing I’m doing wrong but down to a misleading design flaw of either WordPress itself or the theme I’m using.
You are all right. When one goes to the site address, one sees the front page with complete posts.
However… being a newbie, and not knowing any better, that was something that seemed illogical to even try. The site is not yet published, and is apparently only visible to me, it’s author, so I never did that.
The only way I’ve looked at it is through the site editor.
When I’ve worked on a page, I’ve clicked the preview button to see what it looks like and doing that displayed a “preview” Front Page with truncated posts. (This is obviously a new meaning of the word “preview” of which I was previously unaware. LOL).
All’s good and we got there in the end with your kind input. :)
Thanks so much for the help.
