Posts duplicate themselves on blog page

Why do I have duplicate blog posts on my page? I tried changing the sticky post on a post that duplicated itself, which then caused a different post to show in duplicate on my blog. I haven’t changed any of the settings nor uploaded more than once. In the list of posts, it shows just once.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Howdy,

Welcome to WordPress.com! Thanks for reporting this to me; I’ll have our theme folks take a closer look, but I have fixed this for you in the meantime.

On WordPress.com, we have a feature called “infinite scroll” that was enabled which auto-loads posts as you scroll down on the page. In your case, since you’re new to the site and have a small number of posts, instead of loading no additional posts (expected) it was loading the same posts a second time.

    Not cool!

To somewhat resolved this, I deactivated the infinite scroll. This enables an “Older Posts” button at the bottom of your site that will load the duplicate posts, but it isn’t automatic as it was prior.

Again, I’m bringing in our theme folks to check it out for a more robust solution.

Welcome again—if you have any questions or if there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know!

Thank you for your speedy attention to this problem. The duplicates are now gone on the main page, but as you said, do still show up when “older posts” button is clicked.

  • Howdy,

I wanted to send you a quick update. This issue is a bit more complicated than at first glance. We’re digging in to determine what is causing this error on your site.

Thanks for your patience and for using WordPress.com. Welcome again!
