Posts from my self-hosted site not showing up for tags

    Hi,

    So I’m a little frustrated because I am a beginner at running my website. Everywhere it is usually suggested to go for self-hosting if you’re serious about your blog and so I did last year. However, my views have been very low in comparison to when I used to have a regular wordpress.com blog.
    I just saw in response to another question that posts published from a self-hosted site do not show up under tags? If that’s the case, I am not finding new readers and it becomes pointless for me to have a website. Why wouldn’t I rather have a wordpress.com account then? I don’t want to pay extra for a Jetpack premium account now to access a perk I used to have for free.

    I’m a little disappointed. Would love some assistance. Thank you.

    Are you talking about posts of a self hosted site appearing in the WordPress.com Reader. I am amazed that WordPress.com even allow this as long as people have the JetPack plugin, when their sites are hosted over at some competitor.

    It seems reasonable to me to expect people to have a paid JetPack plan for extra features such as displaying your posts on Tag pages or search results in the Reader.

    I see things from the opposite point of view. As I’m serious about my blog I don’t want it to have any security issues/downtime/upgrading hassle. I just want to concentrate on my content and am happy to stay here at WordPress.com (along with its excellent SEO).

    How is it competitive if self-hosting is an option that WordPress provides? That’s the only way for me to not have the “.wordpress.com”. By choosing a hosting site, I am just getting ownership of my website.
    I am serious about blogging which is why I went for self-hosting but still need a wider reach of audience, as does everyone at any stage of blogging.
    So this is counter-productive if tags don’t even work if I’m self-hosting. Not sure how am I expected to increase my reach then.
