posts going to the wrong domain

  • Unknown's avatar

When I log in to my username it looks like the only blog I have is thegrapefruit.com and when I try to write posts and publish them I can´t access them on my site, I just get an error message. But when I go through all my posts in the admin/control panel I can see they have been published to this address: https://thegrapefruitdotnet.wordpress.com. How can I get wordpress to publish my posts to the right domain? I have tried everything, copy-paste, change permalink, new log-in details, but nothing shows up on my site thegrapefruit.no. I don´t even want the other site and have no clue where it came from. Thanks for your help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your site at http://thegrapefruit.no/ is a WordPress.ORG site.
There is no domain mapping upgrade for thegrapefruit.com here at wordpress.com. If you would like to use this domain thegrapefruit.com to map to from https://thegrapefruitdotnet.wordpress.com/ you will first need to set up domain mapping.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins (passwords), features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here first please http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    re: mapping an existing domain
WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.

Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made, it and the domain mapping purchase here, each and every year.

Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium upgrade bundle.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL.

If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

Thanks for you quick reply timethief, but I am sorry I started of writing thegrapefruit.com as my address, that is wrong, I meant to write grapefruit.no. So ignore the .com

I have already paid for domain mapping which is why I don´t understand why the posts do not appear on the site.

Sorry to confuse you, hope you have another minute to give me some more help.

  • Hi @catpierce , I can see your posts here:
    https://thegrapefruitdotnet.wordpress.com/

And I can see that thegrapefruit.no is indeed mapped here, but it’s pointed to some other servers. Let us know whether you intend to use the site here or at the other host, and we’ll figure things out from there. Cheers!
