Posts I Like Widget Not Updating Properly

    Hello,

    I would like to report that the Posts I Like Widget (http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/posts-i-like-widget/) usually/often does not update properly and I have noticed this problem for months but I have not reported it until now (as far as I can remember), it usually/often does not show the most recent Likes even after one or more days sometimes/often, and so it often goes hours/a day/days showing outdated Likes and/or skipping some/a lot of my Likes.

    Even deleting the widget and re-adding it does not fix the problem usually.

    I always keep Firefox updated and I have it set to permanent private mode and my cookies/temporary files/history/et cetera are set to automatically clear when I close the browser and this problem happens on Windows 7 (updated) and Ubuntu Linux 12.04.3 LTS (updated); and so it seems to be a problem on WordPress.com’s end but I could be wrong.

    I just wanted to report this so that maybe the WordPress.com Team could fix this if it is a problem on their end, maybe I am not the only person who has noticed this and/or who has this problem, thank you.

    Hi John,

    Thanks for the report! I can’t reproduce this, however. I just tested out the widget and I liked a post and refreshed my blog, and the new like showed in the widget immediately.

    Note that the widget will only record likes that you click when you’re logged into your johnjronline WordPress.com account. If you are and you still don’t see it next time, could you reply and link me directly to the post or page that you liked that’s not showing up in your widget, so I can take a look?

    Hello Eurello,

    I always Like when I am on the actual Post/Page and when I am logged in.

    I noticed that when I Like Posts/Pages on major blogs like Matt’s blog, Daily Post, WordPress.com News, et cetera my Likes show instantly; but not when I Like smaller blogs like:

    Hi John – Thanks very much for these details. I found that there’s an open bug report for this widget because it does not display likes on posts without featured images. It only shows those with featured images, to display as a thumbnail in the widget. I think that’s what’s happening here, since the posts you’ve provided don’t have featured images.

    I’ll keep you updated on progress with this bug.

    Hi Eurello,

    You are welcome, that makes sense, and you are probably right about that bug possibly causing the problem because most less popular bloggers I know do not use Featured Images but most popular bloggers do use Featured Images.
