Posts in my Categories are showing up as "Archive for the … Category"

Why are my posts under each Category showing up as Archived? I have an Adventure category. From the sidebar and the top menu, the title of the Category displays on the page as “Archive for the Adventure Category”. How do I change that to just read “Adventure Category” or just “Adventure”?

This is normal and intended behavior — you’re actually showing an archive of older posts in a certain category after all.
If you switch to another theme, it may say something different though!

So this means my categories will always display my posts as ‘Archived’? I’ve been editing my posts the past few days, so it looks like even recent posts will be displayed this way.
If I’m understanding you correctly, I need to explore other themes to see if they present my posts the same way.
I wish there was another fix for this. I don’t think a Category should read “Archived” if you’re posting daily.

Changing themes will not change that display. When a post is published it’s automatically archived under the categories/tags assigned to it. Every theme will display all published posts on all dynamic categories pages exactly as you see them displayed now.

Thank you! So each Category I create will show on my blog as “Archived” for that category. The page will never just display the Category as the name I’ve labeled it.
I thought the Categories would display as I’ve named them, and then the posts would be archived under Archived. That makes sense. The way it’s working now doesn’t. I suppose I wish it worked more like a website and not a blog.
I appreciate the help. Just frustrated with the ‘look’ and ‘label’ of it.

You can remove that if you wish to. Thank you for that information. I did try changing the titles but it didn’t work. I have created a custom menu and added Category pages. I just don’t understand why my About and Home pages display properly but my Category pages don’t. I don’t have a ‘Blog’ page.
I guess my basic question is, can I change the heading on the Category page that’s displayed from “Archive for Adventure Category” to read just “Adventure”?
Any ideas or suggestions?
