Posts NOT appearing in chronological order

http://5x50at50.wordpress.com/
Some of my posts appear to be aligned to the left of the page, and are not in chronological order.
I would like them all in chronological order, which I understand is the default.
I have not set any to “sticky”, or used different categories. What have I done wrong?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You have HTML errors in your blog. These are usually introduced by copy-pasting from a word processor or elsewhere on the web, but they can be caused by other things.
The fix is two part:
1) go to Dashboard->Settings->Writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML and Save. That automatically corrects these errors in any posts you make or edit from now on.
2) go to Dashboard->Posts and select the last twenty or so and set them to Draft. Save. Then set them back to Public. Save. That forces the change in #1 to take effect on these posts. That should fix it. If not, you may have to go back farther or look in your widgets for an unclosed tag.
-
I think the first thing that you need to do if fix the formatting on one of your posts that is messing up everything below it. This is most often caused by an open HTML tag in one of your posts.
Go to settings > writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then click “save changes.”
Now, starting with I was looking f…, open it in the editor, make one minor change such as adding and then deleting a space, and then click “update post.” Check your blog and if it is back to normal, you are golden.
Post will be in reverse chronological order (newest at top). There is no way to change that. It might be that everything will go back to normal once you have the HTML error issue fixed.

To my most illustrious fellow volunteers: have you ever managed to come up with a reason why WP insists on keeping the default for that option to off? Other than sadism, that is?
-
Nope. Seems like it should be on by default. It would certainly save a lot of problems. I’m thinking though that at some point in the future that option will disappear and it will just all happen automatically.
-
Of course it should be on: the wording of the option is incomprehensible to the average user; and the reason why the main page gets messed up is also beyond the average user, so the average user won’t even look for such an option.

To keep WordPress code poets employed? I’m no coder, but I got beat out for a job doing WordPress maintenance by someone who quoted four times as much as me for the job. He did NOT know about that little tickbox, ruined a major client’s site, and quit his job and left town without fixing it.
Guess who has that job now?
So, thanks to Matt and the others for leaving that default the way it is.

Well, the are doing SOME scanning on what people put into their posts, widgets and pages. Possibly just content of HTML tags (within) and not a full scan.
