Posts not appearing in Reader

    Hi,

    I have a Reader issue with blog posts on http://www.snaptravelandpop.com. Most posts work fine but some do not seem to appear in WordPress Reader. For example my latest post https://snaptravelandpop.com/2017/10/16/takayama-japan-big-city-little-city-sake-box/ doesn’t seem to come up under travel or when I search any of the tags or categories. This issue seems to happen every now and then with my posts and I’m not sure what causes it. Any help would be appreciated especially if I’m doing something wrong.

    Are you referring to the Search box at the top of the Reader? That search box works similarly to a Google search – it looks at the content of your post, and also at how many people have viewed, liked and commented on it, and determines based on that whether or not to show your post for a give search term. Tags and categories you add are also taken into consideration, but having a certain tag on a post does not guarantee the post will show up if that tag is searched.

    If you want to search for specific tags and categories you need to use the Tags option in the menu on the left in the Reader, which will take you to this URL for the “travel” tag:

    https://wordpress.com/tag/travel

    I’ve confirmed that your latest post is listed there, but in the few minutes I had the Reader open on that page seven new posts came in as it’s a high-traffic tag, so any post in that particular tag will get pushed off the list very quickly.

    If you search another tag on your post, https://wordpress.com/tag/Takayama, your post is at the top of the list.

    Thanks for letting me know it is there.

    I didn’t realise that about the reader search. My reader defaults to the Travel tag so I was looking at that properly, but when I searched for other tags I realise now I was doing it wrong. Thanks for pointing that out. I still can’t find the post on the travel tag but I don’t think the app lets me look that far back now and great to know you found it.

    Yes, we limit the total length of the feed that can load in the Reader, and as that particular tag has high volume older posts get pushed down very quickly.
