Posts not appearing in Reader
-
Hello there! I recently moved to a self hosted site, and transferred all my WordPress.com followers to my new self hosted WordPress site by bluehost. However, when I upload a new post, it does not show up in my reader as before, So my subscribers have been unable to see my uploads. Please advise what I can do regarding this. Kind regards!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
So the reader only works built in with WordPress.com, but self hosted sites can get it working by using Jetpack.
Here are a few links I found that should help you out:
Here’s an older forum question someone had with a similar issue: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-get-self-hosted-wordpress-posts-to-be-visible-on-wordpress-com-reader/
Hopefully this helps you out!

Hi there,
It looks like something is wrong with your site’s RSS feed. If I search for your site’s feed on our system I don’t get anything, and if I try to follow https://thecurlychristiangirl.com/ in the Reader, it gives me this error:
Sorry, there was a problem following http://box5808.temp.domains/~thecusi1/feed. Please try again.
I am able to find a feed in our system for http://box5808.temp.domains/~thecusi1/feed, but it gives the error
Error: WP HTTP Error: HTTP 404when we try to fetch that feed’s content. So it appears your site’s feed might be configured incorrectly. This is most likely something on your hosting provider’s end, so try asking them. If they say it’s a WordPress issue, you want the self-hosted WordPress forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
So the reader only works built in with WordPress.com, but self hosted sites can get it working by using Jetpack.
That is not correct. Any site with a valid and working RSS feed can be followed in the Reader. Jetpack is not required, and the site doesn’t even have to be built with WordPress.
Jetpack allows a site to make use of WordPress.com subscriptions, and includes the site in Reader Search results. In this case the OP is already using Jetpack, as that’s the only way they’d have been able to migrate their followers away from WordPress.com.

Hi @kokkieh,
This line in the Jetpack documentation made me think you needed Jetpack for it to work. “When you connect Jetpack, any WordPress.com user who follows your site will start to see your posts in their Reader. From there, they can visit the post on your site, or like, share, or comment directly from the Reader.”
Thanks for the clarification!

Hello! Thank you for all your help. I connected my self hosted site thecurlychristiangirl.com to my WordPress blog using Jetpack. I was even able to transfer my WordPress followers to the new self hosted site. However when I post it still doesn’t show up on WordPress reader. So with Jetpack surely this should not have been a problem? 😅

Hey there,
I just started following your site and have no problems seeing your posts in my Reader: https://cloudup.com/cubSMaP4NNY
Are you still not seeing them?

Hello! Thank you. I have a wordpress blog and a self hosted site. My wordpress blog is working perfectly, and that is the one you followed. It is my self hosted site that does not allow people to follow and does not show up in the reader. Its hosted by Bluehost and it is a wordpress site as well. So I linked the two using jetpack. I migrated my followers from my wordpress.com blog to my self hosted site. Now my followers are not seeing the posts on their readers any more. Plus new people cant follow. The blog with the problem is thecurlychristiangirl.com

Hi there,
Looks like there are some errors in your RSS feed. Since your site is using the open source WordPress software, please post in the official WordPress.org forums (https://wordpress.org/support/forums/) to get help in resolving this issue.
