Posts not appearing on twitter or facebook

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi again –

Here’s maybe another clue? On today’s post (which appears on Twitter but not on Facebook, the Twitter share button has a little number 2, and the Facebook share button has a little number 1

    (screenshot: https://potd4d.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/share-buttons-numbers.png)

All the posts that didn’t publish to Facebook (but did publish to Twitter) have the same numbers on those buttons.

On the last post that did publish to Facebook (Jan 30), the Twitter share button has a little number 1, and the Facebook share button has no number. Don’t know if that’ important, but it just caught my eye.

    Joe,

Those numbers reflect how many of your visitors clicked those buttons to share to their own Twitter and Facebook pages. They do appear to be working well at the moment!

I’ve submitted your ticket, and am eagerly waiting for a solution for you.

You’ve definitely kept things interesting this week :)

    You’re welcome, I think?

    Have a great weekend.

    Hi Robyn!

    Happy Monday.

Today I went to Facebook, and … both the daily potd-4d.com post and the weekly magiclife-jdm.com post are published! So, it looks like something with all the back-and-forth worked. I’ll keep checking (the rest of the week will just be potd-4d.com posts), but hopefully this has fixed the problem for good.

    Really appreciate all your help.

    Joe

    Joe,

Excellent! I appreciate that you dropped a line to let me know!

Please do stay in touch and let me know how the remainder of your week’s posts go.

Thanks again for your patience and humor :)

    All the best.

    Hi Robyn,

    Happy P-Day.

I wanted to let you know that all the potd-4d.com posts have been publishing daily to Facebook and Twitter, and today weekly the magiclife-jdm.com post published to both as well.

    Looks like case closed. Thanks!

    Joe

    Joe,

    You made my day!

Thank you so much for letting me know. This put a smile on my face!

Happy Presidents Day to you, too! :)

    Hello,

I don’t know if Robyn will be reading this, so in case it is someone else …

The problem I described in my original support request (back on January 28) has reappeared. Both of my blogs are connected to both Facebook and Twitter, but today’s scheduled post appeared on FB/Twitter for just one blog. For the second one (magiclife-jdm.com), the post did not appear on either site, and when I edit the post itself. the boxes are unchecked. When I check the boxes and click Update, the boxes go back to being unchecked. This is exactly what happened before. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Hey Joe!

Oh no! Let’s go back to basics and see if we can’t get this fixed up…

I’ve checked your site and your publicize option. The report shows that there wasn’t an error in sending out the post to Facebook. Regardless, I’m going to regenerate the blog option to publicize to Facebook. I’m also going to have you do the troubleshooting that you did before: disconnect/reconnect.

    Instructions here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/

Once you’re done with the dis/re-connection:

If you’re scheduling the post, make sure that it’s set to publicize before you click the scheduling button.

Also, if you’re scheduling, can you confirm that the post appeared on your site, before it appears on Facebook?

Finally, can you send me a link to your Facebook page, so I can keep an eye on it? Of course, we won’t know if our solutions worked until you post next, but at least we’ll be all set and ready to roll once you do post again.

    Thanks much!

    Hi Robyn!

Thanks for the quick response. I did the disconnect/reconnect process, so we’ll see what happens next Monday. It was working so well …

I see you are following the blog. Here is the Facebook page link:

Perfect. Don’t be creeped out, but I sent you a friend request (temporary, I promise!). If you’re all right with it, accept it, and I can better track your issue. Once everything is settled, I’ll leave you be :)

Done, and it’s not a problem. I’m hardly ever on Facebook as it is :).

  • Unknown's avatar

Great. I’ll keep an eye on your wall to see if your next post published properly! Thanks :)

    Hi Robyn,

It looks like the magiclifejdm.com post published to both Facebook and Twitter today. Problem solved (again)!

    Thanks,
    Joe

    Joe,

Lovely! Thanks again for letting me know. I always appreciate your follow up! Very helpful :)

    Wishing you the best.

    No problem, Robyn!

One quick question: Are views through Facebook and Twitter counted in the stats? The number of people who say they read the blogs (especially magiclifejdm.com) is higher than the number of views/visitors that show in the stats. Just curious.

    Thanks!

    Hey Joe!

Are views through Facebook and Twitter counted in the stats?

If someone is on your Facebook wall, and they click a link, and are taken to you website…then YES…that is counted as a hit. However, if they are only reading your blurb on your Facebook wall, then NO…it’s not counted.

You might also find that some folks who read your site only look at your posts in their Reader. If this is the case, it’s not counted as a hit, because they never have to actually visit your site to read your post.

Finally, stats can take some time to sync, so a click on Facebook might not immediately display in your stats at WordPress.com.

Does that answer your question? Let me know if I can shed any more light….

    Thanks!

Thanks, Robyn. That does answer the question. Appreciate it!
