Posts not posting

I am have many blog pages on my main blog for kids to use in a penpal project. Each page has two kids name on it and they go to those pages to talk to each other. We are finding that when we have the kids do it in class some posts go through others don’t. We thought maybe it was because a bunch of kids were doing it at about the same time although each kid is on a separate page for the most part. Then one of our teachers tried when she was doing it alone and the post was not successful. Later she tried again and it worked. Any tips?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It sounds like they all using the same IP address and that’s what spammers do. I tagged this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe:

Yes: teach the kid to use the Classic Editor, not the New Editor. For some reason the New Post Editor (the Beep Beep Boop one) does not engage the autosave.

It COULD, however, have to do with how many people are using one IP to connect to WordPress.com. I will flag this for staff attention to see if this is the problem. You might consider Edublogs, which don’t have this issue and which are designed for schools; it’s WordPress too.

Next year I will use Edublogs but it’s too late now because we have too much going on in WordPress. How do you get to the Classic Editor? When I go to post I don’t see any choices. Thanks

When you go to post on the top right-hand side you should see “Switch to the Classic editor” somewhere in that sidebar. WP.com should remember your choice unless you clear cookies.

The various editors that raincoaster mentioned will not apply here since your students are commenting, not creating new posts.

It looks like your entire class is connecting using the same IP address, so they’re likely getting caught by our rate limiter. I’ve added your IP address to the whitelist for your site, so you shouldn’t see this issue anymore.

Let me know if you see this issue again. Your school may have a couple of different IP addresses that we’ll need to add.
