Posts not searchable on WordPress.com
-
Hello. So my posts aren’t showing up on the Reader on wordpress.com
You can find them if you search for the website, but even entering the post title will now show it. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ah okay. Thank you for your reply.
After looking into the benefits, I don’t really see it as worth it. Bummer. Thanks anyway though.

Hello again. Been thinking about this lately. Are there any stats on how much activity one might gain from having their posts appear on the reader? Also, what happens to previous posts before a paid subscription?
-
@lexgear it depends on a lot of things, like what you’re posting about and whether people are interested in that topic that day, whether your excerpt and title are catchy, etc. So there aren’t any firm stats on that, no.
You’d be welcome to set up a free site here to test that out though, if you’d like. Just be sure you test using real, relevant content. You won’t want to spam the reader with test posts, or use tags that don’t really relate.

Thanks for the reply. And do you know what happens to previous posts (free subscription)? What happens to them after you subscribe with jetpack?
-
Do you mean if you subscribe to a Jetpack paid plan?
Upgrading to a paid plan won’t do anything to your site itself. It will just enable the Jetpack features included in the particular plan. In terms of the WordPress.com Reader specifically, that will cause your site to be included in the general Reader Search index, the Reader tag listings, and recommended posts and sites suggestions in the Reader.
Also just a clarification: You don’t need to be on a paid Jetpack plan for someone to be able to subscribe to your site. You only need a paid plan for your site to be included in Search.
But any WordPress.com user can follow your site in the Reader by going to https://wordpress.com/following/manage and entering your site’s URL at the top. You can see the Reader feed for your site at https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/55311943
You can also add a WordPress.com subscription button to your site itself so WordPress.com users can subscribe to it from there:

Adding a button might be a good idea. Sorry for all the questions. But if someone is subscribed, do they see posts in the Reader (if I’m on a free plan)?

Yes, anyone can see your posts in their Reader if they have followed your site.
