Posts not showing in reader by tags

My latest post on Nov. 2nd vanished from the reader under the tag groupings very quickly. On November 6th, I went back to try to find it and it wasn’t there. For example, you can scroll back through “feral cats” in the reader and see that you go back into October without seeing my post.
In contrast, I am now seeing that some posts on blogs I follow appear over and over, instead of appearing once and then going down the feed in chronological order.
This is contrary to my prior experience and my understanding that placing tags on a post means it will appear under those tags in the reader. Have there been changes I don’t know about? Or does my blog have a glitch that needs to be fixed?
Not complaining, just want to check into to this before my next post.

In most cases, there’s no need to assign more than a handful of tags per post. If you use more than 15 tags and categories (total), your posts will not appear on tag pages (because you don’t want to see irrelevant content showing up there, and neither do we).

OK, that was my mistake. I didn’t realize the 15 or less applied to tags rather than a total of categories + tags. I thought categories only affected organization by category on the blog. I’ll keep that in mind for the future, and go back and take the latest post out of some categories.
