Posts not showing on front page
-
We have set the page not be static and we created a first post, but the post does not show on the front page. It is set to public and to post immediately but it does not show on the website. Also, we paid for a domain at HostGator but it will not allow us to use the domain without paying through WordPress as well. Is that accurate?

Hey there,
Happy to help you with this.
We have set the page not be static and we created a first post, but the post does not show on the front page. It is set to public and to post immediately but it does not show on the website.
It looks like the site is using the Front-page template, which can be edited here: https://rooftophikers.wordpress.com/wp-admin/site-editor.php?postType=wp_template&postId=pub%2Fzoologist%2F%2Ffront-page&canvas=edit
It looks like there’s a query loop at the bottom of the template under the wine glass and shoes image that’s showing the posts.
Is there a site or theme you’re looking to replicate, or is there a particular way you’d like this to look?
Also, we paid for a domain at HostGator but it will not allow us to use the domain without paying through WordPress as well. Is that accurate?
That is accurate, at a minimum the personal plan would need to be in use on the plan, as this affords the ability to set a custom primary domain.
As the domain is already registered, it’s possible to connect the domain for free as part of that plan from Hostgator.
This can be done as per these steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
