posts not showing up in reader

I’ve tagged my posts but when I type in the tag to search, they don’t show in the reader

If I search for the tag “anti-imperialism” the first two posts that appear are from your site:
https://wordpress.com/tag/anti-imperialism
If you’re including the # if you type the tag in the Reader, that might be the problem. We don’t use the # symbol for tags on WordPress.com like it works on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. Just type in the tag itself as it appears in the post editor, but without any punctuation aside from hyphens.

I’m not using the #symbol. My posts don’t come up. the search bar I am using doesn’t seem to be searching for tags https://wordpress.com/read/search?q=anti-imperialism

The Search option you see in the Reader is a new feature and still in development (which is why it hasn’t been added to the support docs yet), and it’s a way to search for posts on a given topic.
That search does not look for specific tags, but for the presence of key words in the post content, number of likes and comments, how long ago it was published, etc. So this is an random search using various criteria and there is no guarantee that using a specific word in your post will have it show up there.
The Tag search, on the other hand, simply lists all posts published under a specific tag across all of WordPress.com, with the most recent post shown first. There your posts are appearing as it is supposed to.

Hi @justjennifer. There is still a lot of discussion about this going on, so at this point I don’t know. But as I mentioned above, the Reader Search feature is in active development so there will still be changes to how it works going forward which might affect the tag search as well from what I can see.
