Posts Not Showing Up in Tags … Still
-
I’ve submitted two support requests for this problem, but I figured I’d post it here too. It seems everyone else who’s had this problem has had it resolved, but I still have two posts that aren’t showing up in tags:

Looking forward to getting this fixed!

The problem is resolved according to staff, but on any of your posts that do not appear in tags, you will need to open them for edit and then “save” without making any changes. That should get them onto the tag pages.
Also note that the maximum combined number of tags and categories according to staff is 12. If there are more than that, then the post will not be shown in the global tags pages.

Yeah, I’ve done all that, many times over the past weekend. They’re still not showing up. I’ve posted other stuff successfully, so I’m not sure what the problem is.

Hello, I just recently learned about tags and categories. Is it necessary to add posts to both? Or should I only use “tags”. Also, my posts are not showing in tag categories. Maybe I’ll contact support as well. :) T

I would recommend you use only one, and that one Categories, but there are people of both opinions. Whatever you do, don’t use an aggregate of more than 12 tags and/or categories on a single post, or you get left off the Tag pages.

Thank you Raincoaster. I still haven’t figured out how tags and categories differ. I was blogging six months before I knew these could be used to share posts with others. So there is much I need to learn. :) T

Perhaps this will shed some light on the differences: http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/09/21/the-difference-between-tags-and-categories/

Thank you TheSacredPath…tags sound like a better option. I tried removing categories from a few posts, but each time I re-save, the categories remain. Oh well. T
-
I removed categories, and I “think” the problem may be solved. But there is now a category named “2885” available as an option with all of my entries. Does anyone know what that represents? T
-
If you have deleted the default category called “uncategorized” and not set another one as the default under options > writing then this appears to happen. Go to options > writing, assign a default category (you can change it when you write a post) and then delete the 2885 category and it should stay gone.
First, I would suggest clicking on that category to make sure no posts are assigned to it. If they are, edit the post(s) and assign a different category before deleting it.

@misstranformer
You have to have at least one category assigned to a post or the system will assign one on its own. It’s just the way things are set up. -
Oh…ok. That’s exactly what I did. I deleted all categories except “blogroll” I believe, and that’s when the number appeared. I’ll add “uncategorized” and delete it. Thanks again for your help. :) T
