Posts on my dashboards
-
I am getting posts shown on my dashboard which I get emails about but my website isn’t set up for comments and the comments are obviously spam. How to stop this? The most recent one seemed to be a mock-up of a website with my name.

That’s really odd – can you send a link to your site? I looked at the one on this account but I’m not seeing what you see.

Hi supernova , Thanks so much for responding. my usual website is francesbarker.com but these posts seem to be linked to a Hello World post on another site called francescmbarker hub. Sorry,I am not savvy enough know how it all connects, but that seems to be a page that looks like a website with a front page that says hello world, as if it is a WordPress page waiting for content but is for a different theme that I don’t use. It is as if someone has created a new website. Could it be a theme company spamming?
When you say hosted somewhere else, is that the company I have my domain name through?
Thanks -
Hi there,
http://www.francesbarker.com/ is not a WordPress.com site. That site is connected to your account using a plugin called Jetpack, but your site itself is using the open source WordPress.org software, and is hosted at Dreamhost.com, i.e. your site’s files are installed on their servers, not ours.
As your site is not on our servers, it means we don’t have any access to it to check what might be going on, and no control over how it works, so I’m afraid we’re not able to help with this.
Please ask for advise in the WordPress.org forums that @supernovia linked to instead, or else you can also try Dreamhost support.

That is so helpful, thankyou, cuts through my confusion. Will try all you and supernova suggest.
