Posts Out of Sequence

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve made three posts today and now it appears that the last post I made is in second place. I’ve searched the forums, FAQ & dashboard and can’t seem to figure out why the “Queen of the Night” is not the top post. It was the last post I made. How did that happen?
And what can I do to place it at the top? (Change the time of the post?)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Okay, I just found the “Sticky” option…and stuck it to the top.

I guess I still don’t understand how/why it got out of order….when I thought the
normal sequence was for the newest post to land at the top.

What caused it to be out of sequence?

Don’t use the sticky post feature for normal posts. It is mean to put a specific post at the top of the blog and keep it there until you “unstick” it. It can be used to feature a certain post, or for announcements, or something like that.

Edit the post that was out of order, remove the “sticky post” setting, and then edit the published date/time so that it is in the correct order. If you leave that post as a sticky post, it will always be at the top of your blog main page.

    Gotcha! Thanks a bunch.

Wait….do you have any idea what made it be out of order? I don’t want to make the same mistake again.

I’ve seen that happen once in a while and have no idea why it happens, but it seldom happens so I wouldn’t worry about it.

One suggestion though is to check at settings > general and make sure your time offset from GMT/UTC is set correctly for your particular time zone.

    Okay.

Yes, I did set the time offset earlier today…..and for all I know it could possibly have been between the times I did the posts. I bet that’s it!

Thanks very much for your time & speedy answer.

    Much appreciated!

You’re welcome, and the time offset change has been the reason for this in the past so perhaps that was it.
