Posts revert to a draft
-
Hello, I am having trouble with published posts on my blog. I publish a new post on my blog and it works fine. A few hours later, it reverts my published post back to a draft. Then I have to publish it again. Do you know why this is happening?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I think you blog could be caught up in the duplicate blogs issue so I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Hi there,
That is very strange. My guess is that you and another user might be working simultaneously on the same blog post. Can you kindly let me know what blog post you’re having trouble with? Is it the “Our makeup drawer: 16 Products Holly Uses Everyday” post? Let me know in your reply! Thanks.

Hi Druesome,
The post this happened to was “5 Favourites of living abroad.” It’s published now, but I had to publish it twice. First, I published it and it disappeared sometime in about a 5 hour gap, and then I republished it. It happened with an earlier post as well.
Thank you,
Holly -
Alright, here’s the deal. Let’s keep an eye on that post and see if it sticks. If it disappears again, let me know as soon as you can. It’s probably a small database glitch from our end that can be easily solved by re-posting the article. But for now let’s leave it as it is and observe it. Thanks for your patience Holly!

It’s happening to me and really annoying me! I can’t keep using WordPress if it keeps doing this. Nobody else is simultaneously working on my post – the other editor is asleep right now and I am the only one publishing this post. I have published it about 5 times now and every time it reverts to draft after I have seen it successfully published. What do I do?

Hey audienceconnect! Can you kindly let me know which blog you’re having a problem with and which post? Thanks!

I had a Post revert to draft a couple of weeks back – I had the post part way written and the internet connection crashed and I finished it with a second computer using a different internet access – when I went back to the original PC – the Post had reverted to Draft and was not visible – and yes I know enough to force a page reload – had to publish it again with the first PC – got a ton of extra email indicating that publish happened twice – the Post has been fine ever since
The subscription email was also late I think and arrived after the second publish – but I had two sets of ping backs that indicate to me that publish happened twice
the Post was: http://captnmike.com/2014/04/30/improved-fender-whip-part-2/

Thanks for your response, druesome. it’s http://50days50things.wordpress.com/ and the post is “Getting started”. It’s just published right now and seems to be ‘sticking’ but I’m heart in mouth! I’ve had to re-edit and publish at least 5 times.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for reporting this. My guess is initially your posts were saved but published an incorrect auto-saved version of them. In the future, it might help to check your post revisions and restore the right copy from there then publish it. Let me know if that helps.

I’m not quite sure that’s the answer? If I hit “publish”, and then the post publishes (which is what I have always done – for the many months I have been publishing posts), I would then expect it to be published. The main issue is posts reverting to draft status once they have been published. Why is this happening?

Hello there,
Sorry for the trouble you had with this. As I mentioned earlier, conflicting revisions of your post could have caused the problem. To explain further, click to edit your post here:
http://50days50things.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=22&action=edit
You’ll see a “Revisions” link in the Publish box on the right side. Clicking on that will let you see past revisions you made to your post.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/
In your case, when you hit “Publish”, the post saves but reverts to a draft because it loaded the incorrect revision. To work around the problem, click on the Revisions link and restore the correct revision and publish it.
I do see that you were able to publish a new post recently. Did you experience the same issues with that one?
Rest assured that I have reported this and will have someone investigate the issue.
Thanks for your patience!

Hi again,
As an update, we are looking into the problem but haven’t quite zeroed in on the cause yet. Appreciate all your patience regarding this!
