Posts shown on front page

  Under Settings > Reading I have set ‘Blog pages show at most’ to 5 posts. However, below the five most recent posts, more posts appear, apparently in random order. I would like the front page to stop after showing only the 5 most recent posts. How can I fix this? CSS? Any help much appreciated!

  Almost all of your posts are set as sticky posts so that means that if you have 10,000 posts, wordpress will try to put them all on the main page because that’s what sticky posts do, the “stick to the top of the main page.

  Go to the listing of posts in your dashboard and use the bulk edit feature to bulk edit all your posts and “unstick” them.
