Posts split to multiple pages after X ammount of posts…

I have a category page as my index, which shows all my latest posts, but I have now changed it to show only 3 posts, since the rest just take up too much space space. Is it possible to have any posts made ‘before’ the current 3, shown over x amount of following pages? (eg. latest 3 posts on page 1, older posts on page 2, 3, 4, 5 — 10, 11, 12, etc.)? Thanks in advance.
nb; I tried to Google it, please don’t give me a hard time about searching, if you know the answer just post it or direct me to the right place please. Thankyouuu! :)

Pleasse give us a direct link to your blog, starting with http, or link your username to your blog following instructions in the top of the forum.

you need WordPress.ORG -> http://wordpress.org/support/WordPress.com or WordPress.org ? The difference.
