Posts Summary

My posts are not apearing in a summary format on my post page. they are loading the whole texts. I would like to appear only the summary and the option to click and read the whole post. I’ve already selected the option summary in the reading settings and still didn’t work.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Welcome to WordPress.com!

I’m happy to help. The setting in Settings->Reading would actually only impact when someone is following your blog in a “reader” of some sort (the WordPress.com reader, Feed.ly, etc).

To force summaries with the theme you’re using, you can use our More Tag feature. With the More tag, you would indicate where in each post you’d like the break-point to appear. Everything above that point would display on the Posts page with a read more link to the entire post.

It’s super easy – just a one-click button when writing/editing a post. To see a screenshot of where the button is located and instructions, visit the support document at http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything else! Welcome again!
