posts truncated – don't want them to be

Why are my blog posts truncated […] when and where I don’t want them to be?
authentictextiles.comThank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, the way certain themes are designed, an excerpt of each post over a certain length is displayed on the blog page instead the full post. Your current theme, Ascetica, is one of those themes.
If you prefer to see the full post on your blog page, feel free to choose another theme that displays them like that – that’s how most themes work. You can explore the theme directory to find one you like.
If you don’t mind the excerpts but would like to have more control over them, feel free to create a manual excerpt instead of having the post cut off after a set number of characters. I see that you already did that with some of your posts:

Just let me know if you need help with anything else.

Hi Kathy, Thanks for the excellent input, which brings up new questions:
I don’t plan to switch from Ascetica just now, but is there a way to know in advance which themes will show a full post?I also read somewhere that there was a bit of code that could be added at the end of the excerpt to link to the full article. When I find that article again can I just cut and paste the code in the excerpt box? It didn’t seem to have a ‘text’ mode like the body of the post for doing that.
So appreciate your help.

I have a list of themes which show excerpts, which I will email to you now. Anything not on that list should show full posts.
You may be thinking of the more tag, but that’s something that’s added to the full post, and not the excerpt. :-)
-
Hi Kathy, Thank you for the list. I will take a look and see if one of the other themes appeals as much as Ascetica.
Here is the article I mentioned describing how to add a link to the full post at the end of the excerpt.

Sounds like a plan!

Ah… that code is for self-hosted versions of WordPress only, where it’s possible to add PHP code and directly edit the theme files. That isn’t something that can be done on sites sites hosted at WordPress.com. You can learn more about the differences betweenWordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress sites.

Rats! I figured it was something like that. Then can I add the <–more–> bit of code to the end of the excerpt to indicate more of the post?
-
Hi there!
You can use the More tag to control how much of a blog post appears on the home page, if the theme isn’t doing something different with how the posts are displaying. The tag is inserted into a post, not into an excerpt.

Thanks for your comments. I would like a little more than 55 words, but moving the <–more–> tag around didn’t get me anywhere. Am I stuck with the WP edit of 55 words, or is there another limit I could manually use?

Hi there,
Have you tried pasting a section of a blog post into the Excerpt box under the main edit window? That should allow more text to appear on your home page.
