posts under pages

Hi I was wondering if there is a way to create multiple posts under a new page. For example, I would like to post recipes under “The Sweet Life” on my blog. Is there any I can get this page to function like the home page where I can create posts under this section?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hey there!

You can do this is you create a category called, “The Sweet Life,” and add posts to it.

Here is information about Category Pages and how to set them up:

You may also need to know how to set up your new Category page link in your menu:

I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

That really helped! How do I get a post to only post under that particular category and not on my home page as well? I want to post recipes under “the sweet life” but do not want users to see those recipes appearing on the home page. I want them to have to navigate to “the sweet life” to see recipes

    Hey there!

All posts will always go to your blog main page. There isn’t a way to block this from happening.

However, I have a little trick you might like…you don’t need to display a blog main page at all. If you’d like, you can divide your posts into categories, display only category pages in your menu, and leave the main blog page off altogether.

Now that you know how to use a custom menu, you can get as creative as you like, adding/deleting pages and categories from your navigation.

That should do the trick! If I can help in any other way, please drop me a line. Cheers :)

How do I make “home” page a category and not custom. I created a category called “home” but when I add it to the menu structure it always appears as “custom”. Still trying to figure out how to leave the main blog page off altogether

Sorry I actually figured out my issue above. Now I’m wondering how to make the “home” page the page that the viewer sees when the site first loads. Right now it directs them to the latest post, which is not necessarily the latest home page post. I want the latest post on the home page to be what the viewer sees first. Not the latest post of the sweet life. Can I do this?

    Hey there,

I suspect this is happening because your Home Page is set up to display your latest post. Since your latest post is one that you’ve assigned the Sweet Life category, it’s showing as your first page.

This will probably adjust as you add new posts, but doesn’t allow you to have a reliable front page.

My suggestion is to create a static front page. This is what most folks with category post pages choose to do. You would create a welcome page, add that as your front page (Home), and then have the categories appear in your menu after that. You will, of course, need to rename your Home category, so it’s not confusing in your menu bar.

Here is info about creating a static front page:

Let me know if this works for you. Thank you!
