Posts vs Pages
-
After all this time, i still cannot see the difference other than one people can comment on. Why not just have an introductory page for an about us/me etc and then everything else is just posts; to make it simple to understand??
Every time i want to post something i have to keep looking at my normal page to check which is which; seems silly to me, should be simpler than this.!!!

Using the WordPress.com tutorial is a good way to start blogging here in a step by step way. There are several differences between posts and pages. You can read about them here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
Pages are static and are for content that rarely changes. They sit outside of the blog structure and you cannot post to multiple pages in any blog. There is only one main page for posts in a blog and all posts will display on the main blog page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page.
The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts.
Choice 1 static front page
Choice 2 running page for all posts on front pageWhich do you choose? It’s one or the other.
If you choose Choice 1 static front page then you have to create two pages as I said above. After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

The pages i have have comment box underneath them, that is why i am confused. I dont understand what you mean by it’s static, if i wanted to change the wording of pages or posts, i can do this?

Re: comments
This page > Settings > Discussion
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
We can also override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any post or page.if i wanted to change the wording of pages or posts, i can do this?

i still think that peo;ple should just have an introductory page rather than having lots or the option to have lots. even after reading the page which i already knew about i still see no difference or need for it. i think you should just have posts that has option to disable/enable comments. that would make it simpler.

That can be done and I already posted how above. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/posts-vs-pages-1?replies=5#post-888795
