Posts went to wrong page

  • Unknown's avatar

I had a page called Home and 1 named Traffic.
I went to change the picture on the Home page, but I had to change that a couple of times, then , all of a sudden, there were 2 Home pages. I want the traffic posts under the traffic category to be on a page titled Traffic which would come after my page titled Home which will only have 1 or 2 pictures.

    Howdy,

It’s possible to change the page to which your posts are published by going to your Dashboard > Settings > Reading and selecting a page from the drop-down menu next to “Posts page.”

You will need to click on the radio button next to “A static page” in order to activate the drop-down menu.

If you want your posts to be published to a page titled “Traffic,” you can go to your Dashboard > Pages and create a page titled “Traffic” without inputting any content. This page will then appear as an option in your drop-down menu.

    Thank you evarlese
I am trying to do what you said,
but- Home is not an option in the drop down menu after I select “A static page” Now only Photo of the Month is.
.Before I had the posts about traffic on a page called Traffic which was after the Home page. Those were the only two pages I had. Home had one photo at one time and two photos attached to it at another time.
Not sure how I did it because now I cant get 2 attached to one page without code appearing on the preview and the formal page.
I haven’t played around with it much because Im afraid- not confident with computers.
I tried to attach 2 photos to the Home page but it got so messed up that I left it the way it is now. Working with it the way it is now I would like to have previous Photos of the Month go to thumnails on the bottom of the page row style with the current Photo of the Month prominent on top . But not sure if I can make that happen without some serious help.
Ive got someone here in town just have to find some time to work together on my blog.
Thanks for writing back I followed some links on your page Thanks for some interesting and fun music!

    Hi there,

You will need to create your own home page for it to appear in the drop-down menu. You can go to your Dashboard > Pages > Add New and, if you’d like, title this page “Home.”

On “Home,” you can insert any information or text that you would like to appear on the front page of your blog.

Regarding having posts about traffic appear on a page titled “Traffic,” it sounds like you were using Categories. You can add links to a particular Category in your site’s menu by following these instructions:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-category-pages-to-your-menu

Would you mind walking me through, one more time, how you want your site to appear? For example, do you want your blog posts to appear on your front page with links to posts about “Traffic” in your site’s menu? Or do you want a custom front page with a separate page where users can read your latest posts?

    Appreciate you contacting me.
Not sure how I want it to appear.
You say I have to create a Home page, but on the blog there IS a Home page!
though it does not appear ANYWHERE on my dashboard.
Im ok with where it is today
Think I better take my friends advice and start a new, totally private, practice blog,

    Hi there,

The homepage that appears on your blog does not appear in your Dashboard. It is automatically created when you create a blog and is set up at act as your posts page.

If you decide to change this set up, you will need to manually create a home page by going to your Dashboard > Pages > Add New. Then, you can go to your Dashboard > Settings > Reading to set this as your home page:

    Set the Homepage

    Hello
    On my blog
I have a page titled Photo of the Month.
I would like to update it each month with a new photo and have the previous Photo of the Month automatically drop to the bottom of the same page as a thumbnail, eventually having a large number of thumbnail images collected on the same page as the current featured image.
    Is this possible?
    Thank you!

  • That’s possible. You can’t post to it necessarily, but you can update the page each month and add the new photo.

How do I change the green design next to my posts above to a photo of me like you guys have? I’ve tried EVERYTHING!!!!

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks I think I found it

I cant figure it out. I uploaded a photo to Gravatar but I do not have a choice to use it in Discussion Settings.

  • You gravatar will automatically appear, as it is in this thread now. I just takes a few minutes to get around once you set it.

Does anyone know the easiest way to change the order of pages?
I want “Traffic” to come before “Top-free sunbathing”

  • You can do that by creating your own menu at Appearance -> Menus in your blog’s Dashboard.

See this for more info: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

Is it possible to have posts go to different pages?Let me guess- it has something to do with “categories”?

  • Pages are a form of content, like posts, so they can’t actually contain posts.

Instead, you could utilize your categories and category archives for a similar effect.

Can I change the order in which my categories appear on the side?

  • Unknown's avatar

If you would like your Gravatar to appear in your sidebar, you could use the Gravatar widget: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/gravatar-widget/

You cannot change the order of categories in the categories widget, but if you setup a custom menu and add the custom menu to the sidebar from the widgets page, then you can create categories and other types of links in any order you’d like. Here are the relevant help pages:
