Posts won't appear on the homepage
-
Hi, I’m hoping someone can help please; I’ve just activated fontfolio and lost all my previously uploaded content from the previous blog theme…I’m starting to upload again and just published a post and it hasn’t appeared on the homepage?
I am also wondering if I need to set up another tab in the menu and label it portfolio or blog or something, so people can access the archive when the homepage is full..or isn’t that needed?!
Thank youThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @franmcelhone!
Don’t worry – changing themes does not delete any of your content :)
When I visit your site I see your blog posts on the home page, and it looks like you have set your front page to show latest posts under My Site > Customize > Static Front Page.
Did you already sort this out, or do you still need a hand? :)

Thank you for getting back to me Chad! I did figure it out in the end! Please can you advise on another question I have? I understand I am uploading my posts to the homepage; should I/could I set a new page, titled for example ‘portfolio’ and be adding posts to this tab? Or, will all the posts I continue to make just be on the home page and people will just keep scrolling down? Is there another way to archive the posts, so if I need to let someone know how to find it, they can look under a certain month for example?
If I add posts to the new ‘portfolio’ page, presumably I can choose which posts I want on my static homepage?
Thank you again, your help is much appreciated.

Exactly – that’s how the blog works. Posts appear in reverse chronological order, with the newest one displayed first.
Is there another way to archive the posts, so if I need to let someone know how to find it, they can look under a certain month for example?
Date, category, and tag archives are created automatically in WordPress. For example, you can see all posts made in December 2016 here:
https://mettleandpearls.wordpress.com/2016/12/
You could add links to any type of archive in a custom menu if you wante. Learn how to add a custom menu here:
You could also look at adding an archive or category widget. (Right now you have no categories, but you could add some if that’s a useful way to organize your posts.)
If I add posts to the new ‘portfolio’ page, presumably I can choose which posts I want on my static homepage?
The only way to display posts on a static page is to use the Display Posts shortcode. They would not be displayed in a grid format if you went that route.
Portfolio projects that you’ve added automatically appear here:
https://mettleandpearls.wordpress.com/portfolio/
You’d need to add a link to that page to a custom menu for visitors to find it.

Hi Kathryn, thank you very much for your help; I will explore these points when I get the chance. Fran
