potential user can't hide password when registering
-
I have invited users to view my private blog– one of them is having difficulty registering because she can’t hide her password when she tries to sign up. She is using IE8, which is probably the issue, but I would like to reassure her that her password is still safe even though she can see it the first time she enters it. Can you let me know how to explain it to her? Thank you!

Hi there,
You and your friend are right; when a new user is registering, the password field is by default set to display the password in plain text, but ONLY on the screen for the user. When it is sent in to our servers it is encrypted and not something which can be read by anyone, including us.
If she would like to be extra careful, she should be able to see a link directly next to the password field which is able to obscure the password (change it into a series of dots or asterisks). If that link is missing or not working, then again you’re probably right, it’s probably because she’s on IE8. She can try upgrading her browser or try a different one. She can go here to do either of those:
You also could set up a user for her if you are close enough!
Let me know if you have any other questions!
