"Powerd by wordpress"?

    I want to buy a theme and the site is going to be used as the website for a serious company, even though wordpress is great, I can’t have the “powered by wordpress” sign on the bottom. Will it disappear when I buy the theme?

    Howdy!

    The footer credit is required to be displayed according to our terms of service:

    http://en.wordpress.com/tos/

    Even sites hosted through our VIP program, such as the TED blog, display a credit to WordPress.com in the footer. (See the bottom of http://blog.ted.com/ for an example). Premium themes still display the footer credit as well.

    If you prefer to not have this footer, a self-hosted site running the free WordPress.org software may be a better fit for your needs:

    Let me know if you have further questions either about the footer credit, or transferring a WordPress.com site to a self-hosted one.
