Practice and learn…
-
I am interested in building WordPress sites and have recently been advised to try WordPress after I taught myself DreamWeaver. I am trying to add form-builders and other plugins, however been advised that I need to upgrade the site to a differing plan.
Is there a plan for test-development prior to launch?
Alternatively, I wanted to try a number of designs and trial the WordPress platform, however would have liked a package for my overall account, rather than a per site basis.
Is this an option?
In all honesty, finances are an issue and an offshore web-development company are currently 6 months later than they should have been, so ideally I’d like to build for myself or be in a position to provide them with the input screens they require before I go broke in the wait. Even taking up the business package is a bit too much at present, but it provides me with the capacity to potentially practice and learn and then maybe generate revenue in the future.
Any information from WordPress users/developers regarding best practice or any advice would be very much welcome.
I would genuinely appreciate some insight and assistance.Thank you and kind regards

Hi there, WordPress comes in 2 flavors: the fully hosted WordPressdotcom (where we are ) and the open source WP (org) project at https://wordpress.org This support guide explains some of the differences between them: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
All WordPressdotcom upgrade plans are per site, per year and paid for in full at checkout. Upgrade plans are automatically renewed with the card on record unless you opt out.
If you decide to cancel, you have 30 days from the date of purchase to request a refund on everything but new domain registration which needs to be cancelled within 48-hours of purchase. Here’s more about that:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/faq-renewing-and-canceling/There is no “multi-site” discount available here on WordPressdotcom.
Alternatively, you might prefer to look into hosting a standalone WP site with a web hosting company that offers monthly payments or multi-site options.
Let us know if you have any other question about this.
