  I am looking to speak or chat with someone about migrating a site to WordPress but want to do so before I signing up for a paid account so I can get the information I need before making a commitment. How do I get to a live person without having to pay first?

  Live support is only available to those who have a WordPress plan, but you can
  use the forums here to ask for help.

  There is also information about migrating your site to WordPress.com at https://transferto.wordpress.com/

  But if you’re looking for more information about the self hosted version of WordPress then you would want to check out the support pages at https://wordpress.org/support/

  Thanks Synapsemage. I guess the frustrating thing is that I am not really looking for “live support”, just a live salesperson who can answer a few questions before I buy.

  I know I must seem old fashioned particularly in relation to a tech product; but I don’t think it’s too much to ask to be able to have a brief consultation when you’re interested in buying a product or service from someone without having to pay first for the privilege of speaking with them. It’s like having to pay a fee just to walk in the store and see what they have.

  Bummer.

  I understand it is frustrating to be unable to talk to a live salesperson, but you can always post your question here in the forums, tag your post with modlook and staff member here will be able to assist you.

  It won’t be as direct as using live chat but without a paid plan it’s the option that’s available.
