Prefer not to have to invite contributors.

  do i have to invite contributors ?
  i want to setup a community blog where people post and i’ll approve the posts, but i don’t ant to have to invite them. is that possible?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  In order to allow people to gain that level of access, you will have to invite them, I’m afraid. This is to help protect our users who may not want anyone at all gaining access to their blogs.

  You may be able to set something like that up using WordPress.org software, but that requires quite a bit more technical know-how, so it may not be what you’re looking for.

  Thank you! I suspected so. I might start small and invite people, so that I have a solution immediately, and later move the blog to WordPress.org . I read something about BuddyPress that works with WordPress.org – would that be the way to go?
  How difficult would it be to move the content? Would I have to copy posts one by one?

  BuddyPress may be very useful for what you want to do! It only works with WordPress.org, but you can check it out here:
  http://buddypress.org/

  We make sure it’s very easy for you to transfer your content to a WordPress.org site. If you go to your Dashboard, you’ll see a item called Tools > Export. You can export your entire blog (you have to leave it active in order to have the images import into your new WordPress.org site), then import into your new WP.org site.
