Premimum account & bilingual content
-
Hello,
I have got a bilingual website that I plan to redesign in WordPress.com. I researched to find that the best method to make a bilingual blog is making 2 blogs with 2 different languages and making the necessary link and menu connections.
My question is:
I would like to buy the premium account and use domain mapping. Will it cover both of the bilingual blogs that I will create?By the way, is it possible to copy the blog and make the necessary language changes, like using a template for new page/posts?
I look forward to learning the answers so that I can continue my efforts to build up the website. Thank you in advance…

The domain mapping upgrade is for a single domain or subdomain. You will need to purchase the upgrade for each blog. You could use subdomains for languages:
myblog.com – main language (or multi-language welcome page)
fr.myblog.com – another language
de.myblog.com – anotherYou can copy posts and pages between blogs using the import and export if that is the easiest way for you to translate.

tandava108, thank you. I did as you instructed.
I mapped my main blog to my domain, it worked.
Then I bought a domain mapping for the second language blog I made. But when I mapped this second blog to the subdomain on my registrar’s system (with CNAME entry), the subdomain mapping works, whereas the main domain mapping does not :S
I don’t know much about the technical side, so I really would appreciate if anyone can help me to make both language sides work with my domain.

The main domain is http://www.sadiyeokyar.com
http://sadiyeokyar.wordpress.com is mapped to this address. The English version is http://en.sadiyeokyar.com
http://sadiyeokyareng.wordpress.com is mapped to it and works fine now where as the homepage mapping does not work and loads the old website.I hope you can help me solve this issue.

Actually I just realized that the homepage mapping works the other way around; when I click the http://sadiyeokyar.wordpress.com, the old website on the domain is opening :S

Your work is very beautiful and the domain and subdomain are working exactly as intended for me. Sometimes it takes up to 72 hours for new domains to settle down and start working, but from Canada I can say they are working fine for me so don’t change anything.

raincoaster, thank you so much for your prompt reply and nice comments; so I’ll wait a bit for it to settle down and hopefully without many problems and soon…
