premium account advantages?

  I just upgraded tot premium wordpress.com and paid $99,- However, I cannot seem to notice the difference (except for the option to buy premium themes and a domain name that has no added value to me) and hence the added value of this purchase is not clear to me. The additions I was hoping for, like more / better widgets and the option to install plugins, are not to be found :-(

  Can you please explain to me what I really purchased for $99,- and how I can customise my website the way I want to?

  Hi Monique,

  The Premium bundle includes the following upgrades:

  • A custom domain, as you noted.
  • VideoPress—allows you to upload your own videos to your WordPress.com site
  • 10 GB of additional upload space for pictures, videos, as well as the added ability to upload audio files.
  • No ads—it’ll hide all ads from your site, where we typically show some of your logged-out users ads currently.
  • Direct access to our support team (e.g. this here)
  • Blog Customizations:
    • Custom Colors
    • Custom Fonts
    • The ability to use any custom CSS code on your site

  We don’t offer an option to install plugins on WordPress.com currently due to security and stability concerns.

  For customizing your site, with the upgrade, you can visit the Appearance->Customize page in your menu and assign custom colors to your site, as well as choose different fonts. If you know CSS or have found tutorials, you can also use Custom CSS. We have a Custom CSS forum if you’re not sure what to do/how to use CSS and would like some help.
